Cesky Krumlov drawing 2. Now I'm not saying that the colours necessarily work in this drawing. But, I post it because as I'm self taught, most of my work is trial and error. You try new things out, sometimes it works, sometimes not. People often ask for tips. I say just draw and draw and eventually you'll find what works for you. The lighting was tricky and I couldn't properly show the comparison of the street view with the drawing, but you get the picture. Česky Krumlov, Czech Republic. From a slightly different angle to the drawing. A sketch of the old town from atop the high castle. . On my current trip I've mostly done quick pencil sketches outside. Then, I'll find a warm cozy place to finish the drawing with a hot meal and a cold beer. Small pencil outlines, then add the broad colours with Promarker pens then finally the black fineliner. Whilst drawing this, clouds had quickly descended on the town and changed the landscape a little. But you get the idea. You can even see my fingers turning pink in the cold. Next I'll be in Prague. In lovely old Krakow most of the shops were closed for Christmas Eve and today. However for dinner we found a warm place to eat in Kazimierz, the historic Jewish district❄ . . Bardejov, Slovakia. We drove south from Krakow over the mountains into Slovakia. As soon as we approached the wooded border the snow came in thick and fast. 🌲🌲❄❄⛄ . This little mediaeval town close to the border has a great little square and church (unlike every other European town). My latest drawing from Krakow, Poland. Krakow's main square with the townhall tower in the background. This 800 year old square, one of Europe's largest, was just too beautiful not to draw. . . I sat in a café and sketched this for my travelbook (as it was just too cold to draw on the street). Tomorrow im leaving Krakow though and heading south.
